The folks at Aerobo are excited to announce their first ever Instagram drone photography contest. They’re giving away a $500 grand prize and showcasing the winner’s work and portfolio. The contest starts July 12th and will run for a total of 5 weeks. The winner will be announced on August 16th.

Here’s the scoop from the Aerobo rules page:

Why?

We often get messages from photographers and videographers, asking for tips on how to get started in this nascent but growing field. We always give two pieces of advice: practice and exposure. But getting your work in front of people is difficult, particularly in the saturated online environment.

So we decided to leverage our presence to create opportunities for emerging talent. All you need to be eligible for entry is an Instagram account and some drone pictures.

Rules

For this competition, we don’t want to limit your photography— anything flies! We only have three basic rules:

  1. Must be your original work.
  2. Must be posted on IG for the first time for this contest.
  3. Photo must be taken from a drone.

We will announce finalists weekly, and pick a grand prize winner after 5 weeks.

How to Enter

To submit a photo, please follow the guidelines below.

  1. Follow Aerobo
  2. Post your photo on your Instagram page
  3. Tag #flyusaway and @aerobo in the caption
  4. Register your entry here

Every contestant can submit 1 photo. You can earn up to 5 total submissions by tagging your friends in the comments of the announcement.

How to Win

We believe you can do much more with cameras than take high-and-wide landscape shots. If you equip a camera with wings, you can fluently move a camera through 3D space, expanding the angles and perspectives that are possible in photography.

We’re looking for highly creative compositions that deviate from what you’d consider a “traditional” drone shot. If you’re a content creator who believes that they’re pushing the boundaries in aerial photography, we want to help you share your work with the world.

Show us what you’ve got.
