ALAMEDA Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was suited up and throwing passes Wednesday at practice, three days after leaving the season opener with a bruised thumb.

Carr seemed to practice without restriction during the brief portion open to the media. There was no protective gear or tape on his bruised right thumb and he was involved in all aspects of practice.

Carr mostly threw short passes early as did fellow quarterbacks Matt McGloin and practice squader Garrett Gilbert. But he graduated to downfield passes as the Raiders completed their individual drills.

Signs appear to be pointing toward Carr playing Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens and that’s what their coach John Harbaugh expects.

“It sounds to me like he’s going to play, based on what we’re hearing,” Harbaugh said on a conference call Wednesday.

Even if Carr, who is scheduled to speak to the media later this afternoon, doesn’t play and Matt McGloin starts, Harbaugh said the Ravens won’t be changing their preparation.

“I think that Matt is a very good quarterback also,” Harbaugh said. “They run the same offense. wholesale nfl jerseys from china They don’t really deviate in terms of what they do, so far from what we’ve seen with the two quarterbacks. They both have the same kind of abilities.

“We just prepare for their offense. It’ll either be 4 or 14. Slightly different, but the same preparation for us.”Safety Charles Woodson was also at practice, but not suited up as a participant. He wore his jerseys, black pants and baseball cap and stretched with the team but was not in pads.

He did place some pressure on his right shoulder, which is reportedly dislocated, during some of the stretches, but also operated gingerly when raising his arms.

Defensive tackle Justin Ellis, who left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, was not at practice. Defensive end Benson Mayowa, who missed the opener with a knee injury, also was not at practice.
