Practice No. 1 of the Mike Riley era is in the books for the Nebraska football team. We’ll have a complete notebook to come, but here are some quick hitters:

See the previous blog on a very fiery Kevin Williams insisting he’s not a backup and wishing to not be referred to as such. The senior was quite adamant.

Williams was with the No. 1 units on Thursday alongside Maliek Collins, as Vincent Valentine sat out with what Riley said was a knee bruise/contusion Valentine suffered on the final day of summer workouts.

A sight you don’t see often: Jordan Westerkamp doing pushups. That’s a punishment for dropped passes, of which the junior WR had a couple.

Senior WR Brandon Reilly hauled in a couple of long passes from Tommy Armstrong, including a 70 yarder. A good sign for Reilly, who said he’s fully recovered from hamstring problems that set him back last season.

Officially, Nebraska has no backup punters on its roster behind veteran Sam Fultz. wholesale nfl jerseys from china But senior QB Tyson Broekemeier served as the No. 2 punter on Thursday and performed well.
